AIM “Hard Hat Tour” and Celebration

October 23 , 2011

On Sunday, October 23rd, supporters of a new home for AIM~Academy In Manayunk gathered at 1200 River Road for a “Hard Hat Tour” of the renovations and to celebrate the progress of the AIM for the Future capital campaign.

AIM leadership including parents, Board members, supporters and staff, joined Board of Trustees Chair Matthew Naylor, Executive Director Pat Roberts, Associate Director Nancy Blair, and Principal Dick Baroody for tours of how the River Park 2 office complex on River Road in Conshohocken is being transformed to where students who learn differently “live it and learn it” through educational immersion, research-based learning strategies, and assistive technology.

State Representative Mike Gerber came by to check out what will be the latest educational addition to his district when the Grades 1-12 school opens on January 3, 2012.  AIM in conjunction with the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority has been awarded a $1.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  This grant, along with the generous support being raised through the capital campaign, has AIM more than half way to its $6.5 million goal to build out the classrooms, create sports fields, and build a gymnasium/performing arts community center.
