District Attorney Seth Williams Visits the Lower School

May 21, 2010

District Attorney Seth Williams arrived at the lower school of AIM~Academy In Manayunk to an assembly of first through fifth graders, eager to ask questions and to learn about his job!

Mr. Williams talked to the students about the importance of hard work and perseverance when it comes to being successful in life. He described his upbringing in Philadelphia and his school experiences from elementary school all the way to law school. "I wasn't very good at math. I struggled with it. But I didn't let that stop me and I worked hard in school." An important message he wanted to share with all of the students is the importance of staying in school – no matter what! The students were fascinated by his description of his job, his long hours, and the variety of roles that he plays as an elected official in our city. He also described for them his journey in life that led to his current job.

District Attorney Williams graciously answered all types of questions from the lower school students ranging from, "What obstacles have you encountered in your job?" to "Did you ever want to be a Jedi?" His warmth and humor with the students engaged their attention and allowed them to learn about his career and most of all, about his love of helping others. District Attorney Williams is a positive role model for all students! His visit to AIM allowed the students to hear about his own "celebration of success" during our Friday morning school meeting.
