JON RUNYAN VISITS AIM STUDENTS

May 7 , 2008

The students of the Academy In Manayunk got to visit with Jon Runyan, successful NFL football player, University of Michigan graduate, and an outstanding member of our Philadelphia community.

Jon Runyan, host of the 1st Annual AIM for Kids Golf and Tennis Classic to benefit the Academy on Monday, May 12 at Philadelphia Cricket Club, wanted to come in and meet the students who have blossomed through the Academy's Live It. Learn It. philosophy of visual learning.

"Our students so appreciate when people visit to share their experiences in school and their careers, " said AIM executive director Pat Roberts. "We are thrilled that Jon will have this time with our students and will be with our guests on Monday."

The Academy in Manayunk (AIM), in conjunction with The Lab School of Washington®, opened its doors in 2006 to provide extraordinary opportunities in the greater Philadelphia region to children with language-based learning disabilities in grades 1-8, utilizing a highly tailored, arts-based learning environment developed by Sally Smith - a pioneer in teaching children with learning disabilities. AIM, with its enrollment more than doubling in just one year of operation, incorporates visual and performing arts with rigorous academics, as Sally Smith's program at The Lab School of Washington has done for over 40 years, to meet the individual learning styles of its students. AIM students "live it and learn it" through educational immersion, research-based learning strategies, and assistive technology.
