Assistant Director of Athletics

AIM Academy seeks an enthusiastic and experienced individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Athletics. This position plays a vital role in daily operation and development of the school's athletic programs and facilities. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Athletics will serve as a coach, providing guidance and mentorship to student athletes with a strong emphasis on character development. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and collaborates closely with all members of the school community.

This is a full time, 10-month position with benefits. Start date is August 15, 2024.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coach, Lead, or Assist one sport or afterschool activity during each of the three sports seasons.

  • Assist the Director of Athletics with arrangements for special events and after-school activities. 

  • Monitor academic and attendance records of student-athletes as requested.  

  • Along with Director of Athletics, maintain records of team and individual athletic accomplishments for historical and advancement purposes.

  • Provide safety instruction to students and establish standards of student behavior to provide a productive environment for physical education while ensuring the optimal condition and safety of all athletic equipment, facilities, fields, and courts.

  • Coordinate all athletic facility needs, including scheduling for internal, external, athletic, and physical education activities. This includes preseason and postseason activities. 

  • Promote the Athletic Program through publications, update athletic information and schedules with the Communications Coordinator, maintain records of athletic accomplishments.

  • Oversee updates of results, maintain coaches' bios, add links to outside scoring information, upload team pictures, rosters, and schedules.

  • Supervise the registration for Middle and Upper School Athletic Programs along with distributing and collecting uniforms each season.

  • Create and maintain an athletic facility annual calendar to include PJAA League and non-PJAA League games.

  • Working with the Coordinator of Student Logistics create and maintain the Athletics Transportation Schedule.

  • Confirm athletic contests on a weekly basis with League and Non-League teams.

  • Supervise and coordinate officials and coverage of the scorer’s table for all home athletic competitions.

  • Prepare fields, gyms and courts for athletic contests. 

  • Continue to seek opportunities to enhance professional development.

  • Participate in committee, department, and staff meetings as well as school-sponsored events that would benefit from area of expertise.

  • Be involved in the school community at large.


  • Bachelor's degree required; additional coursework or degree in education, wellness, physical education, helpful.

  • Knowledge of best practices in coaching, athlete development, and sports psychology.

  • Highly flexible, collaborative, and adept at problem solving.

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and administrators.
