Director of Technology

The Director of Technology will lead the strategy, management, and execution of all technology hardware, software, infrastructure, and services for both AIM Academy and the AIM Institute. The Director of Technology will directly oversee the strategic planning for infrastructure renewal, technology purchasing, tech-support services, the networking infrastructure and hardware, databases, and our 1:1 laptop and iPad programs.

We seek candidates who bring a desire for ongoing professional improvement and the right combination of technical skills as well as education and customer service experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate very strong technical skills, have a clear customer-service orientation to supporting users, the ability to manage people, projects, and complex systems effectively, and strong interpersonal skills and collegiality.

This job reports to the Executive Director/Associate Director. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Administration and maintenance of school networks, servers, databases, and wireless infrastructures

  • Provide tech leadership and strategic thinking in an educational setting

  • Manage a strong technology team and helpdesk that currently includes a Systems administrator, an educational technology specialist, and a marketing technology specialist

  • Partner with faculty and staff to make the best use of technology to enhance teaching and learning as well as classroom technology curriculum administration

  • Explore new technologies that can support student learning

  • Collaborate with AIM Institute and their technology partners as they continue to produce their Pathways platform

  • Plan and facilitate in-house technology professional development

  • Perform daily troubleshooting for students, teachers, parents, and staff - both in-person and remote

  • Well-versed in articulation of technical concepts to a non-technical audiences

  • Oversee and manage contractors and vendors

  • Manage technology purchases and contracts and manage our laptop insurance program

  • SIS administration and training

  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a Mac environment

  • Experience with MDMs and 1:1 deployment projects

  • Experience with Veracross
