Physical Education and Health Instructor
The Physical Education and Health Instructor reports directly to the Director of Athletics and Student Life. They assist the Physical Education and Health teacher at the school. They teach Physical Education and Health classes throughout all grades.

This is a full time, 10-month position with benefits. Start date for new faculty/staff is August 21, 2024. Additional opportunities for tutoring, summer program, coaching, and after-school activities are also available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and teach physical education classes in collaboration with the current PE and Health teacher.

Teach Lower School and Middle School physical education classes by incorporating wellness education, activities and initiatives into the curriculum.

Teach Lower and Middle School Health classes.

Coach or assist with athletic programming in each season (fall, winter, and spring)

Obtain and maintain a recognized strength, conditioning and fitness certification or the equivalent as determined by the Director of Athletics and Student Life (or willing to obtain within the first year).

Plan, coordinate and develop with athletic department coaches appropriate strength, conditioning and fitness plans for each athletic team/program for pre, during, post seasons and summer workout packets.

Provide safety instruction to students and establish standards of student behavior to provide a productive environment for physical education and to ensure the optimal condition and safety of all athletic equipment, facilities, fields, and courts.

Model a commitment to exercise and physical conditioning, health education, and personal hygiene.

Identify and develop the talents of students in physical activities and sports.

Communicate any concerns with student conduct with a direct supervisor and Division Dean of Students.

Participate in committee, department, and staff meetings as well as school-sponsored events that would benefit from area of expertise.

Be involved in the school community at large.

Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Student Life.

Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree required; additional coursework or degree in education, wellness, physical education, helpful

Certified strength and conditioning and nutrition coach

Knowledge of best practices in coaching, athlete development, and sports psychology.

Highly flexible, collaborative, and adept at problem solving.

Excellent communication skills; ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and administrators.

Commitment to the mission and values of AIM Academy, with a passion for supporting students with learning differences.
