Meet Me at the Hub

The learning spaces in The Hub are starting to take shape! Facilities Director Bryan Kurish "toured" the second story of The Hub recently to see the construction progress and shared a mini tour through photos. The construction team is also working on the front of The Hub addition which will have a beautiful view o the Schuylkill River from the second floor.

• Steel structure work has begun. The construction crew began setting the steel columns and beams during winter break. Two levels of steel have been set so far!
• Steel Beam Signing. Stay tuned for more information on a steel beam ceremony in early February!
• A new retaining wall at back side of The Hub has been formed and poured.
• Foundation work is finished!
• Fire Alarm rough-in work occured. Over break, the crew prepped connections between the main building and the Hub. 

• Excavation is mostly complete. Hand-excavation close to the current building and mechanical excavation on the site for the new addition is almost complete.
• Foundation work has begun. Rebar has been set and footers poured along the column line closest to the existing retaining wall near the bike path at the back of the site.
• Steel structure work is anticipated to begin in December.

• Construction started this week! AIM's construction permit was received from Whitemarsh Township on 9/28. Earthwork and site demolition will be first activities in construction area which will encompass the next few weeks. We are working with the contractors to minimize to the on-site construction noise during the school day as much as possible.

• Construction Signage has been placed around campus.

• Upper School Carline and Parking Changes: AIM Upper School carline pick-up has moved to the Riverpark 1 parking lot on the other side of Manor Road. Our neighbors at Riverpark 1 have kindly allowed us to use this temporary space for carline pick up and student parking. Out of respect for them, please ONLY use the entrance/exit located on Manor Road and wait in the spots closest to Manor Road for your student(s) to arrive.

• Building Design by Blackney Hayes Architects completed in July 2023
• PJ Dick Awarded Construction Manager for project in July 2023
• Construction Mobilization efforts beginning end of September 2023
• As a part of mobilization, PJ Dick has set up fencing perimeters around construction, and materials laydown/construction vehicle areas. A construction job trailer has been set up on site. You will see site signage go up as well, for construction purposes and also way-finding and general safety.
• Bridging the preparation between mobilization and start of construction, PJ Dick has built scaffolding and a stair tower on the side of the building for emergency-only purposes, as they prepare to demo the existing back stairs, other on-site demolition, and prep the back lot for sitework and foundations
• On Friday, September 15th, AIM marked a momentous occasion as we celebrated the groundbreaking for the Global Innovation Hub. The event featured speeches delivered by Senator Vincent Hughes, Trustee Brian Loble, senior David Marien-Efron, and co-founder and co-CEO Nancy Blair. In attendance were AIM's Board of Trustees, student and staff representatives, and our AIM capital campaign supporters.

- Time capsule, which includes school memories over the years, installed in the walls on the first floor near the amphitheater. 

- Glass 'curtain' wall on the exterior of the building installed.

- Construction will put final touches on the building this month to prepare for opening in November.
