Upper School Intern Positions ~ Fall 2020

Overview

AIM Academy is excited to announce the opening of two Upper School Internship positions for the fall of 2020. AIM’s Upper School is an innovative and collaborative environment where teachers have smaller than usual caseloads so they can focus on the individual needs of students. Interns provide small group break out instruction, offer executive functioning support to students, and support the teaching faculty in a variety of ways. AIM’s Upper School is comprised of 25 teaching faculty and is supported by a team of instructional leaders, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, a school psychologist, and very knowledgeable administrators. This position is unpaid, but is offered with the potential for future employment.

An ideal candidate will have a Pennsylvania or Private Academic Certificate in teaching. An ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting bright children with learning differences through individualized instruction. Internship positions are provided in exchange for a generous professional development residency that lasts the duration of the school year. Interns receive Wilson Level I certification, participate in the Pathways to Proficiency multi-day course, attend several sessions of the Access to Experts Speaker Series, and attend our annual Research Symposium. Additionally, interns are trained on AIM’s unique college preparatory curriculum during their residency and are often the first to receive full time positions as they become available.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required
Familiarity with the college process
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to positively and productively relate to students
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Adaptive learner and self-starter
Bias toward collaboration
Strong technology skills
