Cogmed Working Memory Training
Cogmed Working Memory Training (www.cogmed.com) is an evidence-based intervention designed for sustainably improved attention and working memory capacity. An essential cognitive function, working memory is necessary for a wide-range of tasks related to attention and ability to focus. Working memory is the ability to keep information in one’s mind for several seconds, manipulate it, and use it in thinking. Poor working memory is at the root of many problems related to attention and is often linked to ADHD and learning disabilities. The efficacy of Cogmed has been demonstrated through a credible body of scientific work. After training, users experience an increase in their working memory capacity, ability to concentrate and resist distractions, and impulse control. In the school setting, the benefits of the Cogmed Working Memory Training program are most evident in an underperforming student’s academic performance, specifically math and reading comprehension.
